Description

In Portuguese, nouns are classified into two grammatical genders, most commonly defined by the use of an ending letter -o (masculine), or -a (feminine). Substituting one of these letters in a noun by an “x” is a fairly recent neologistic way of eliminating the gender of a word, thus making it gender-blind, so to speak.

The expo is named Tod(x)s – Todos/Todas means “Everyone”.

Going further on this concept, we wanted to promote freedom of choice, the freedom to break paradigms and stereotypes. To not only celebrate diversity, but to subvert all rigid binary symbols of gender. To inspire acceptance and respect, for we are all different in the most beautiful ways and nothing should be more sacred than that.

O Briefing

Tema: Gênero  (TEXTO FORNECIDO)

As questões de gênero estão em alta por trazerem um ponto central da contemporaneidade – a representação. Os estereótipos masculino e feminino reproduzem regras restritas e conservadoras diante da liberdade de cada pessoa viver escolhas individuais e, assim, formular o seu papel social. O desafio das sociedades atuais é criar um ambiente plural mais inclusivo, resguardando o direito ao pertencimento e à cidadania a todos.

The Brief

Theme: Gender  (PROVIDED TEXT)

Gender issues are in vogue for presenting a central point of contemporaneity – representation. The male and female stereotypes reproduce restricted and conservative rules regarding one’s freedom of living individual choices and thus developing one’s social role. The challenge of modern societies is to create a more inclusive plural environment, safeguarding the right of belonging and citizenship to all.
